Last night we went to dinner at Applebee's. The kids finished their dinner and the hostess offered the kids a balloon on the way out. The kids happily accepted. Before we went outside I made as a loop knot and secured the balloon's on their wrists. Trenton was talking about how awesome his balloon was and Alexis was chanting about her red balloon. Alexis got into the car and pulled her balloon inside and while she was getting in Trenton was fooling around with his, he had taken it off his wrist. while he was getting into the car his balloon flew away. He was sad but he didn't cry. Chad held him up so he could watch his balloon float into the dark sky. Everyone had gotten into the car and we we're driving for about 10 minutes when Trenton says to Alexis that he is sad his balloon flew away. Alexis tells him a story about how all the balloons you loose when you're a kid fly to heaven and that God keeps them and when you die he gives them to you... like a brand new beginning, a new birthday. She went on to explain to him that heaven was a great place where everyone wants to go there but you have to be good, etc to get to heaven.
It was a big moment for me. I was proud that she was comforting her brother and I was proud that I had taught her what I feel are the important things in life. At just six years old, Alexis, she blows my mind.
Aw, I loved reading this ♥
